Licenses of 8 vendors selling illicit cigarette cancelled in Anantnag

 Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS):  The officials of District Food Safety department Anantnag today cancelled registration of eight vendors and recovered illicit ciggirates worth thousands of rupees from them.

 District Officer Food Safety Officer Zameer Ahmed told KNS that raid in coordination with citizens of the area raided many shopkeepers and vendors in Janglat Mandi , Lalchock ,Khanabal  chowk and other areas close to educational institutions.

“Illicit cigarettes including the brands like WIN, ESS and others are mostly sold without regulation and specified warnings and today we have been able to seize more than eight licences of vendors and recovered illicit cigarettes worth thousands of rupees,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Mir Nisar, a prominent social worker has appreciated this move by the government and stressed the need to implement COPTA across the state.

Advocate Asif retreated to work for ending the illegal sale of cigarettes in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed the civil society to come forward and support the initiative. ((KNS).
