LG Withdrew My Security Over Truthful Remarks: Dy CM Surinder Choudhary

Srinagar, Oct 7 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday expressed deep concern over what he described as attempts to suppress truth and derail democratic dialogue in the Union Territory. Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Choudhary strongly criticised the Lieutenant Governor's administration, calling for restoration of statehood and greater accountability in governance.

The Deputy CM said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have endured countless challenges over the decades, but have never abandoned their faith in justice. “We have survived long periods of uncertainty. But we have never lost hope. Our trust remains in the Constitution and the Supreme Court of India, which rises above caste, creed, or region,” he said.
He expressed hope that the apex court, in its forthcoming decisions, would take into account the emotional and political realities of both Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, especially in the context of the changes brought about in 2019.

Referring to the historical legacy of the region, Choudhary said that the voices of those with a deep-rooted connection to Jammu and Kashmir must not be ignored. “Maharaja Hari Singh called this ‘his state’.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWhen decisions of such magnitude are made, the stakeholders — including the heirs of that legacy — must be consulted,” he noted.
He further stated that restoring statehood was not just a political demand, but a necessity for economic recovery. “Unemployment is rising, youth are anxious. If development is truly the aim, then statehood must be reinstated,” he added.

Taking aim at the LG administration, Choudhary accused it of holding up critical files and delaying the issuance of business rules necessary for the smooth functioning of government. He said there are growing complaints from industrialists and locals about irregularities in various sectors including mining and flood relief.

He also alleged that after he publicly asked the LG to regularise his own position drawing a comparison to daily wage employees who remain unsettled his security vehicles were withdrawn. “I’ve had security due to threats related to my post. Those vehicles saved my life on three occasions. Their sudden withdrawal appears more like retaliation than routine procedure,” he said.(KNS).
