LG Sinha describes J&K as ‘living canvas’ at Rang-e-Kashmir Cultural Festival

Srinagar, Jun 4 (KNS):  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday attended the ‘Rang-e-Kashmir Cultural Festival’ here, describing the union territory as a “living canvas, painted with centuries of wisdom, innovation, artistry, and craft.”

The week-long event, organised by the Pumbuch Cultural Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, J&K, showcases the region’s priceless handlooms and handicrafts, drawing art lovers and buyers from across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor said a nation’s true strength does not lie solely in its wealth or might.

“It also lies in the richness of its spirit, depth of its traditions and the vitality of its culture. India is a land where knowledge blossomed, traditions endured, and culture remained the soul that bound its people together,” Sinha said.

He applauded the efforts of the Pumbuch Cultural Heritage Foundation and its Director, Superna Sapru, for conserving and reviving the region’s cultural heritage, adding that their mission “injects new energy into traditions so the voices of our artisans, craftsmen, and traditional artists will continue to resonate for generations to come.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”

He also stressed the need to connect the region’s youth with handlooms, handicrafts and the arts.

“The future of our culture rests in the youth’s hands, and they must be made aware of this invaluable heritage,” Sinha said.

The Lt Governor felicitated several renowned artists for their contribution to preserving the region’s traditions.

Among those present on the occasion were Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce; Akshay Labroo, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar; Masrat-ul-Islam, Director Handicrafts and Handloom, Kashmir; along with senior police and civil administration officials. (KNS)
