LG Manoj Sinha Attends Thriller as Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC Beat Arco United FC in Penalty Shootout to Reach KSL Final

Srinagar, July 31, (KNS): In a dramatic second qualifier of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League, powered by Athwas Hyundai and the J&K Sports Council, Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC triumphed over Arco United FC in a tense penalty shootout to earn their spot in the tournament final. This high-stakes match, held at a jam-packed stadium, ended in a goalless draw in regular time and was ultimately decided by penalties — marking the first time in the league’s history that a knockout game was settled this way. Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC kept their composure to win the shootout 4-1.

From the first whistle, both teams displayed tactical discipline and defensive strength. Despite several close opportunities, neither side managed to break the deadlock in regulation time. The intensity only grew as the game advanced to penalties, with the crowd on the edge of their seats. Aqua Kashmir Avengers showed remarkable confidence, converting their chances and shutting down Arco United’s attempts with a resilient performance from their goalkeeper.

Adding to the grandeur of the event, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the match and addressed the audience during halftime. Salman Lateef of Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC won the Khyber Cement Game Changer Award, while his teammate Burhan Sarwar was named Khyber Cement Player of the Match. From Arco United FC, Jahangir Shagoo was awarded the Athwas Golden Moment Award, and Shoaib Haneef received the Events Emporio X Factor Excellence Award. Adnan Ayoub of Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC earned the Kings Player of the Match title for his consistent impact throughout the game.

The award ceremony was attended by prominent guests including Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council; Anisa Nabi, Chief Sports Officer; Javid Ahmad, District Sports Officer Central; and Mohammad Maqbool Lone of New JK Roadways. All dignitaries commended the players and organisers for their commitment to uplifting the football ecosystem in the region and promoting youth talent through structured platforms like the KSL.

With this memorable win, Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC will now face United Elegant FC in the grand finale of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League.
