LG calls for Immuno-AI integration, climate immunity research at IMMUNOCON-2026

 Srinagar, Jun 10 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday called for harnessing artificial intelligence in immunology and prioritising climate-linked immunity research to address emerging global health challenges, officials said.

 
Delivering the keynote address at the annual conference of the Indian Immunology Society, IMMUNOCON-2026, at SKIMS here, Sinha said scientific discoveries must translate into public health interventions to improve vaccine efficacy and combat infectious diseases.
 
The conference, organised by the Advanced Centre for Human Genetics under the theme "Beneath the Grandeur of Chinar: Illuminating Mysteries from Fundamentals to Translational Frontiers in Health," is being attended by leading scientists, researchers, clinicians and policymakers from across the country, they added.
 
Describing the human immune system as one of nature's most remarkable structures, the Lieutenant Governor stressed that sustained innovation in immunological research was essential to prepare for future health emergencies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
Sinha identified three priority areas for the scientific community – development of "Immuno-AI Fusion" platforms to generate immune profiles across different age groups, advancement of climate immunity research to understand health risks from environmental changes, and strengthening of translational medicine to bridge the gap between laboratory research and patient care.
 
He further observed that hosting the Indian Immunology Society's annual conference in Jammu and Kashmir reflected the region's legacy as a historic centre of learning, officials said.
 
Among those present on the occasion included Prof G P Talwar, Founder Director of the National Institute of Immunology; Prof M Ashraf Ganie, Director SKIMS; Prof Amit Awasthi, President of the Indian Immunology Society; Prof Anil Kaul, Vice Chancellor of Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth; Dr Bashir A Fomda, Dean Medical Faculty SKIMS; and Prof Dil Afroze, Head of the Advanced Centre for Human Genetics at SKIMS.
