Leopard caught alive in Handwara’s Vilgam

Handwara, July 30 (KNS): A team of Wildlife department assisted by local inhabitants captured a leopard in Punzwa Vilgam village of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday afternoon.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the leopard had taken shelter in a school building in the vicinity two days ago. 

They said that the wildlife department was informed accordingly, and they caught the animal alive today.

A wildlife official told KNS that they were informed about the presence of the wild animal in the area, following which a team reached the spot. 

“While maintaining utmost caution as to avoid any exigency, the animal was captured safely from the area with able assistance from the local inhabitants,” he said. 

He said that the captured animal would be taken to Dachigam National Park. (KNS)
