Srinagar, May 25 (KNS) : In a statement issued to KNS, noted social activist and national television debater Ahmad Ayaz expressed deep concern over the impact of the recent Pahalgam attack on Kashmir’s tourism sector and its workers.

Ayaz said the incident has triggered widespread cancellations, with nearly 90% of bookings withdrawn, dealing a severe blow to the already fragile hospitality industry.

“Many hoteliers have responded by laying off staff — a move that is both distressing and deeply regrettable,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“While the security concerns are real, the crisis should not be used as an excuse to abruptly terminate the services of workers who have faithfully served the sector.”

He urged stakeholders to show empathy and responsibility, calling for immediate relief measures such as financial aid, reassignments, or temporary support to prevent further suffering among affected employees.
