LAWDA presses 6 more Pontoon machines for de-weeding, lily extraction in Dal, Nigeen

Srinagar July 07:(KNS)   The J&K Lakes & Waterways Development Authority has undertaken massive program of de-weeding and lily extraction in Dal and Nigeen Lakes, officials said.
They said department has engaged eight Pontoon based machines in Dal Lake near Char Chinari for extraction of lily pads.
Pertinently the LAWDA has pressed 14 Pontoon machines into service for de-weeding and extraction of lily so far equipped with hi-tech standards.
“The extraction work is going on in full swing”, the officials said and added the authorities has engaged more six-machines in Hazratbal basin for lily extraction purpose.
The area of 0.68 square kilometer Hazratbal basin shall be cleared from lily with the help of these machines while 2.39 square kilometer area in Boulevard and Hazratbal basins has been targeted.
“The authority has taken a pledge to clean the area in the current year by ending December this year”,
The extraction work in 0.68 square kilometer area is going on under the supervision of senior officials of the LAWDA.

The LAWDA is going to install tracking devices on Pontoon machines to keep close eye over the functioning of men and machinery.
Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat IRS, Vice Chairman, LAWDA is personally monitoring the extraction work and physical inspection of the work is going on daily basis.
According to officials the 0.25 square kilometer area has been achieved while all extracted material is being dumped at Shalimar site.
He further said the process of allotment for extraction of lily in Nigeen Lake for the area of 0.3 square kilometers is under process.(KNS)
