LAWDA conducts prog in unison with SKUAST-K

Srinagar, Dec 31 (KNS): Lakes and Waterways Development Authority(LAWDA) on Monday conducted aprogramme at Dara Srinagar in unison with faculty of forestry SKUAST-K.
The objective of programme was to make farmers aware about the importance of Grasses and their role in soil conservation and water shed management, the statement issued to KNS said.
In the programme, different types of fodder grass seeds were distributed among farmers.
The purpose of grass distribution is to reduce the pressure on Natural pastures and to provide improved grass species having high nutritive value and for establishment of Silvipasture and Hortipasture system.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The programme was sponsored by Department of science and Technology (DST) Govt of India under project "improvement of grazing land/pastures through participatory management approach under temperate climatic conditions of Kashmir valley".
Programme was supervised by Gazalla Abdullah DFO LAWDA and Dr Javeed Mugloo Senior scientist and PI of project and other officers of Department.
During interaction DFO LAWDA make people aware about the importance of joint forest management in watershed area and role of grasses. (KNS)
