Law-abiding drivers felicitated on highway

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 13 (KNS): In connection with Road Safety Week being observed from January 11 to January 17, South Asia Center for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE) in collaboration with ARTO Baramulla felicitated dozens of drivers on Srinagar-Baramullla national highway for obeying traffic rules.


The law-abiding drivers were given certificates of appreciation by Majid Ahmad Shah, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), Suhail Zamzam Qadri (MVI) Headquarters and Umer Bhat, Vice President SACPPE. Besides Srinagar-Baramulla highway, the felicitation ceremony was also held on Gulmarg-Tangmarg road.

Speaking on the occasion, Umar Bhat said the aim to hold such events were to create awareness among general public and transporters to improve the road safety measures and give an opportunity to all stakeholders to contribute to the burning issue in the society. 

“Observing Road Safety Week provides an opportunity to all stakeholders including administration, transporters, commuters, pedestrians and public in general to contribute in reducing road accidents by strictly adhering to traffic safety measures to save precious human lives,” he said. (KNS)
