Lathicharge on Unemployed Youth in Jammu Exposes False Claims of Govt- says JKPM

Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): J&K Peoples Movement (JKPM) has criticised the employment policy of J&K administration and alleged that the high unemployment rates in J&K has exposed the government’s claim that abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A would result in huge employment opportunities for the youth of J&K.

While condemning the recent incident of police lathicharge on youth protesting against unemployment in Jammu, JKPM Vice President Solicitor Syed Iqbal Tahir that in August 2019 when the Government of India revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, Government of India claimed that days of sufferings for the people of J&K were over, and the government was committed to fill up all vacant job posts.

But after more than 2 years, it is very clear that these job promises have fallen flat and J&K’s unemployment graph is soaring, Iqbal Tahir said. He alleged that current bureaucratic setup in J&K is insensitive to the concerns of youth and has failed in creating avenues for youth of J&K. He further said that government needs to move beyond lip service attitude and fast-track the recruitment process.(KNS)
