Laparoscopic Hydatid Cystectomy performed at Gousia Hospital Khanyar

Srinagar, Jan 06 (KNS): A team of surgeons of government Gousia Hospital in Khanyar area of Srinagar on Thursday performed a laparoscopic surgery for Hydatid Liver of a man from Pattan area of Baramulla district.

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Hydatid cyst of liver is parasitic disease caused by Echinococous Granulosus.

It reads that Computed Tomography (CT) documented large Hydatid Cyst in Segment VI and VII with 900ml Volume and operating laparoscopic hydatid liver is considered advanced minimally invasive surgery.

According to the statement, the team included Consultant Surgeon Dr Imtiaz Wani, Dr Aga Nadeem, Dr Waseem Lone, Dr Umer Younis and Dr Jan Muhammad Rather, while Dr Masood Rashid Consultant Anesthesia, Dr Saleem Javed and Dr Saika Khan were in Anesthesia team. 

It reads that Dr Saika Koul was radiologist in this case, while surgical Assistants were Imtiyaz Khan, Jahan Ara, Umer Khan, Muhammad Ashraf and Farooq Ahmad. 

“All surgical procedures were done under the supervision and logistic support of Medical Superintendent Dr Tariq Jan.”
