Srinagar, Mar 14 (KNS): Authorities have suspended both the passenger and goods carrying service on Uri-Muzaffarabad road due to landslides at many places on the other side of Line of Control (LoC).
The passenger bus service, ‘Karvan-e-Aman’ and good carrying service were suspended to avoid accidents due to non-motorable road.
Secretary, Salamabad-Chakoti Traders union, Hilal Turki, told KNS that the transport service is likely to resume on Wednesday. He said that landslides have occurred at five places between Chakoti and Kohala roadlenght.
Turki said that 140 banana-laden trucks are stuck at Salamabad Trade Facilitation Centre in Uri.
“We were informed by the officials on the other side that they have started clearing the roads and will take them more than a day to make it motorable, subject to fair weather,” Turki told KNS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Reports said that rains triggered landslides on other side of LoC at Hatya Bala, Chinar Chakoti, Kohala areas thus bus service was temporarily suspended today.
Officials said that the passenger service will not resume till coming Monday, and thus the passengers from both the sides will have to wait for nearly a week to reach their destinations on both the sides.
Custodian Trade Facilitation Centre, Salamabad, Ghulam Mustafa Andrabi told KNS that the trade has been suspended for now due to bad road. (KNS)
