Take on-spot assessment of healthcare facilities

Srinagar, September 29 (KNS): Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Ch Lal Singh and Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash Friday toured South Kashmir and reviewed overall health scenario in the area.
The Ministers were accompanied by MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami, MLC, Sofi Yusuf, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sumeer Mattoo, Mission Director NHM, Dr Mohan Singh, Medical Superintendents, other HODs and senior officers of the health department.
The Ministers visited CHC Bijbehara and District Hospital Anantnag, District Hospital Kulgam, and health centers in Kulgam and Anantnag. They held an interactive session with people and gave patient hearing to their grievances. Meanwhile, Lal Singh directed officials to maintain proper records and also to ensure hassle free healthcare service to people in the area.
Singh said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in implementation of health schemes and service delivery.
The Health Minister exhorted upon officers to ensure better healthcare to people across the State with special focus on rural and far flung areas.
He asked officers to chalk out strategies to improve health scenario in the State, adding that the government is giving extra attention on this priority sector. The Minister also asked the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of developmental works, adding that Government has resolved to create dependable health infrastructure for people across the State.
While taking stock of the hospital, the Minister said though various initiatives have been taken, however there was room for improvement in healthcare across the South Kashmir district.
“We have planned many things to improve overall healthcare scenario across the State. You have to cooperate and most importantly, the people need to have trust in our efforts,” he said.
“Blame games and petty politics should be shunned. Hospitals should be prime places for better patient care and not a platform for garnering politics,” he added.
He directed officers to put in their best efforts to help improve healthcare in hospitals. He emphasized upon them to treat patients in their respective hospitals and avoid referrals.
Singh also conducted on-spot inspection of drug stores in hospitals and took stock of medicines, bedding and other facilities being provided to patients by hospital administration.
Meanwhile Asiea Naqash asked hospital authorities to chalk out effective strategies to provide enhanced and timely healthcare services to people.
She asked them to provide quality and hassle free services to people for which she asked them to augment all material and human resources. (KNS)
