Srinagar, Jan 26 (KNS): The locals of Lal Bazar Srinagar are up in arms against the PDD for making the area to reel under darkness amid bone chilling cold with government paying no heed to their requests of ensuring better power supplies.
Several areas of Lal Bazar, Srinagar including Bota Shah Mohalla, Salfia Masjid, Sikh Bagh and others are in complete darkness with supplies becoming erratic every day after due to PDD’s non- serious approach towards addressing the electricity scarcity.
Locals in these areas said that it is ironic that the feeder from which the power is supplied to them is fully metered but electricity continues to remain erratic and scarce. “This would be the only feeder in the entire state which has no electricity but is fully metered. The fact is that the concerned PDD office in the area is controlled by some politically affluent class that punishes us for not voting during elections.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe candidates during the elections said to us in 2014 that we will never see electricity if we do not vote in polls. We didn’t and this is the collective punishment we are getting these days,” says an elderly person in the area.
Locals added further that they even sent a detailed compliant to CM’s monitoring cell but the concerned PDD here also misinformed CM’s office and put the issue under the carpet. “We have children no more than few months old and old aged people who shiver during this winter due to no power. We want electricity as it is being supplied in other metered areas. We pay our monthly dues as per the meter usage. Why we are being punished for not voting for a particular party,” locals added.
