LA Panel visits Ganderbal, Kangan, Sonamarg; Reviews infrastructure facilities

Committee on Public Accounts of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly headed by Mian Altaf Ahmad, conducted an extensive tour of Ganderbal, Kangan and Sonamarg and inspected the infrastructure created in the area by various departments. The Committee inspected Malhar hi-tech nursery near Ganderbal, Manigam Park and Sindh View Environment Park during the visit.
The other members of the Committee include Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Muhammad Khalil Bandh, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Farooq Ahmad Indrabi and MLC, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas.
While inspecting Malhar Hi-Tech Nursery near Ganderbal, the Committee was apprised that Forest Department has sowed 92 lakh saplings of various kinds of trees in the nursery which are being planted in high altitude areas during forestation drive. Chief Conservator of Forests Nisar Ahmad, through a Power Point Presentation, briefed the Committee and said that the Nursery is spread over 600 hectares of land and has supplied 4.92 lakh deodar saplings during the past four years.
The Committee also inspected Manigam Park spread over 25 kanals of land and took stock of the measures taken up for its development.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe Committee asked the concerned agencies to complete the development works at the earliest.
While inspecting Sindh View Environment Park, the Committee directed the concerned agencies to beautify the park in view of the area being a tourist destination. The Committee said that the Park be developed on modern lines and made more attractive for the visitors. The concerned officers were asked to plant deodar plants in the park.
The Committee visited village Kullan and met the people there. The deputation of the villagers apprised the Committee about the problems confronting them in wake of cloudburst and aftermath of torrential rains. They demanded construction of bund on the site where the landslides have caused damage to residential houses.
Later, the Committee visited Sonamarg and received brief from the officers of wildlife department about the wildlife animals available in the area and the measures taken for their protection.
