KVK Bandipora organises Veterinary Clinical Camp

Bandipora, Dec 04 (KNS): A one-day Veterinary Clinical Camp was organised on Saturday at the main campus KVK Bandipora. 

As per a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the programme was inaugurated by the Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi wherein Associate Director Extension (A.S) Prof. Masood Saleem Mir, Dr Sushil Kumar besides all the Scientific and supporting staff of the Kendra were also present. 

The programme was actively participated by 50 progressive farmers including 5 farm-women. 

At the outset, the Director Extension highlighted the very purpose of conduct of the camp and informed that the health of animals was of paramount importance for good economic returns, quality and overall growth of the sector. 

With his novel approach, the Director Extension presented a live demonstration to the participating farmers about the “selection and judging” of dairy cows which forms the bedrock of the dairies.

Speaking on occasion Associate Director Extension (A.S) informed that the Animal health cannot be overlooked as it indirectly affects human health too. 

People who are rearing animals or blessed with dairy farms have to provide their animals with all the essential nutrition, animal protein and other elements and therefore animals need to be provided with supplements like Urea Molasses Mineral Blocks (UMMB) particularly during winter months, he added. 

During the programme farmers were also incentivized free of cost kits containing Anthelmintic and Quality Mineral Mixtures primary for deworming and health maintenance. Scientist concerned at the Kendra Dr Nazir Ahmad Mir also spoke on the occasion. 

The farmers expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for conduct of such important event by KVK, Bandipora for the benefit of farming community. (KNS)
