Srinagar, Sep 01 (KNS): The Security forces locked up Fruit Mandi Sopore for trade on 31st August and Ist September, 2016. On 31st August, 2016 in early morning hours when fruit traders arrived at Fruit Mandi Sopore along with fruit consignments they were surprised to see the Fruit Mandi locked up by the Security forces during the night hours.
These fruit growers, fruit dealers, customers and employees as well assembled all together and asked the reasons from the security forces for having locked up the Mandi. In reply Security forces have directed that the trade in the Fruit Mandi be started from 09:00 am. Since all the Mandies of the country opens in the early morning at 04:00 a.m. and fruit consignments are sold in the early hours so that customers could take the fruit consignments to their destinations well in time. All the Mandies in the country are working and doing their trade in the same manner. The attitude of Security forces in the Sopore Mandi looks that the Security agencies and the government as well are intend to spoil the present situation more and more. In view of the present situation of the Valley the Fruit Mandi Sopore also opens likewise other business establishments in the morning hours and does their trade for an hour and two.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe fruit dealers of Sopore Mandi when agitated against the lockup of Mandi by the Security forces they were severely beaten up and tear gas and pellets were fired on them resulting many people were severely injured and the Fruit Mandi was therefore remained closed on 31st August 2016 and similarly when fruit traders on 1st September 2016 arrived fruit mandi Sopore along with their fruit consignments they feel once again surprised to see the Mandi locked by the security forces.
The Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers cum Dealers Union strongly condemn the action of high handedness on the hands of security forces and the government and emphasize that this high handedness of forces be restricted immediately or will have to face consequences for closure of Sopore Mandi.
It is need of the hour that the common people and trucks may be allowed to go ahead during the relaxation periods and there should not be any restrictions during the relaxation. Since we are part and parcel of the society and are therefore support the present people’s movement.
The State as well as Centre government is therefore suggested that they may put all efforts honestly for solution of Kashmir issue. (KNS)
