Kupwara Police Recovers 8kg Heroin worth Rs 50 Cr

Kupwara May 23 (KNS): Kupwara Police today said that it arrested a militant associate and recovered  Rs 50 Cr of heroin from him.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS) acting on a specific input, Kupwara Police on Sunday busted Pakistan sponsored Narco-militant module and arrested a militant associate. 

The statement further reads that 8 Kgs of Heroin worth 50 Crs were recovered from him.

"On a specific information, Kupwara  Police busted a Pakistan sponsored Narco-militant Module and arrested a militant associate identified as Mujasir Ahmad Lone son of Muzaffer Ahmad Lone resident of Karen Bala", Statement said.

Incriminating Material Narcotic substance Heroin 8 kgs worth 50 Cr. The market value was recovered from his possession, the statement said.

The other absconded involved persons have been identified and efforts are being taken to arrest them, the statement said.
"The Module was in close connection with Pakistan based handlers and were involved in drug trade & assisting financially to active militants of the Valley.The recoveries also exposed the interconnection between drug dealers and militants. The module was working for militant to strengthen their activities in the valley and was misguiding and motivating the local youth of the Valley to join militant ranks," it said.
A Case under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and an investigation has been taken up.
Kupwara Police once again appeals to the people of the District to come forward with the information regarding Drug Peddlers/Smugglers so that the curative steps can be taken against them, it said.(KNS)
