32 FIRs registered, Heroin worth Rs 129 cr recovered this year: SSP Kupwara

Kupwara 24 May (KNS): Kupwara Police seized approximately 8 kg of narcotics estimated to be worth Rs 50 crore from a Person. 

 

Addressing a press conference, senior supritendent of police Kupwara, Dr. G.V Sundeep Chakarvarthy said that narco module was under forces radar for the past some weeks and some suspected places were also searched.

"On Sunday evening, the teams following them were able to apprehend the accused,"he said according to Kashmir News Service.

 

 He also said that in this narco-militant module, one smuggler has been arrested and 8 kg of narcotics estimated to be worth Rs.50 crores recovered from his possession. 

 

“The accused smuggler was working in close tandem with militant handlers and were involved in drug trade to finance millitants operating in the Valley", Kupwara police chief added. 

 

Since the infiltration has been very negligible this year but there have been much more attempts to send drugs so to make the flow of money for millitancy activities, he said.

 

He further said that Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe this case further adding that they are expecting more arrests and expose of more links during investigation.

 

Kupwara Police chief said that 32 FIRs of NDPS act have been registered this year sofar in which around 40-45 accused people have been arrested and added that 28 Kilograms of heroin has been recovered having a market value of RS 129 crore. (KNS)
