‘From two years a dumper vehicle getting rust’

Srinagar, Jan 13 (KNS): At Municipal Committee Kupwara, a Dumper vehicle (refuse compactor) is receiving rust from last two years, as the department has not; refuse compact containers for lifting the waste.
The Municipal Committee, Executive Officer Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Dar, told KNS that, a Dumper Vehicle (refuse compactor) of cost rupees more than, 20-lakh is getting rust at their office from last two years, because they haven’t (refuse compact) containers for garbage collection and lifting.
The officer said, that they have wrote and asked higher authorities to provide the vessels for garbage and waste collection, but two have passed the have not received yet.
“We have asked the higher authorities to provide us containers on which garbage is collected then carried on dumper vehicle (refuse compactor), but two years passed we are waiting for,” Bashir Ahmad Dar, MCK officer told KNS.
As per the sources, on 7th of March 2015, from the office Executive Engineer for Urban and Local bodies Kashmir, a letter was sent to MCK and sought the requisition for containers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Without delaying on 09th of March in 2015, Kupwara Municipal Office wrote back and demanded 150, (refuse compactor) containers to them.
He said that they are facing problems in collection and dumping the garbage as they have not enough machinery and dumping site in district.
“Under Solid Waste management we are still facing shortage of machinery and land where we could dump waste,” Dar told KNS Correspondent.
Dar said that, “we have identified 92 kanals of land at Kandi Kupwara, for dumping and waste management, and have wrote to the directorate office for approval, which is yet to be approved”.
It is pertinent to mention here that district Kupwara have not any proper garbage dumping site and they are dumping the garbage in rivers at Nallah Lolab near Zangli area 2 km, away from main Town, and other open areas, which are serious causing health issues. (KNS)
