Srinagar July 20 (KNS): Police today said that an elderly man, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir son of Abdul Satar Mir of Khumriyal, Kupwara died at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.
“The deceased had got a blunt injury on his head. The cause of which is being ascertained by the police,” a police spokesman said in a statement this evening.
Meanwhile, three persons were injured in Lassipora area in Pulwama district this evening when army thrashed them.
A police official posted in the district said that army was passing through Batnoor village in Lassipora area when it came under stone pelting from some protesting youth and the protesters pelted them with stones.
He said that army beat thrashed some of the youth in which three youth were injured, among which two were shifted to District Hospital Pulwama. “They youth have been treated and are stable,” the official said, adding that the situation is under control in the area.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, the police spokesman said some stray stone pelting were reported from Nowpora in Sopore, Koundbal, Alesting in Ganderbal, Sangam in Anantnag, Kaloosa in Bandipora and Reck Chowk (Batamaloo) and Karan Nagar in Srinagar
He added that the situation remained under control throughout the Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile, people across the Kashmir Valley observed ‘Black Out’ this evening which was called by joint resistance leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yaseen Malik against the civilian killings in the ongoing unrest.
The leadership had called for blackout for an hour in the evening.
Reports from districts in Kashmir and Srinagar said that people switched off their lights in their homes as a mark of protest against the killings. (KNS)
