Appeal higher ups to fulfil demands

Srinagar, Jul 24 (KNS): The residents of Khuri Batapora village of Noorabad area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday staged protest against the State Forest Corporation (SFC) for ‘failing to provide timber to them’.
The residents today assembled in the main Chowk of the area and raised slogans like ‘we want justice’.
The residents according to KNS correspondent, Zahoor Andrabi said that the authorities have failed to provide them timber from past several months. “At least 500 ft timber was unloaded in the nearby forest office here but unfortunately the authorities provided the timber to those having influence thereby leaving the deserving families to suffer,” they said.
They said that the forest department is not paying any heed to the sufferings of deserving and poor families here. “We are facing tremendous hardships due to the non-availability of timber,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The residents said that all the assurances and promises done with the people here proved hoax on the ground.
Meanwhile SHO DH Pora, Sajad Ahmad reached the spot and assured redressal of their demands.
According to KNS correspondent, within no time, the police officer recovered 100 ft timber which was provided to the influential people there.
The officer also assured that rest of timber will also be recovered within two days and said that he will take up this issue with the higher ups.
Meanwhile, Forest Ranger, Abdul Qayoom while talking to KNS said that at present, the timber quota was too low thereby couldn’t get possible to provide to all the families.
“The next quota will be given within 15 days in which rest of the families will be accommodated,” he said. (KNS)
