One militant killed, traffic to be restored on NHW shortly’

Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNS): The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar said that Kulgam operation was over, while stating that a major tragedy was averted ahead of Independence Day.

In a Tweet, Kashmir Zone Police, while quoting IGP Kashmir said that the operation in Kulgam was over and major tragedy has been averted before the Independence Day.

He also said that the National Highway will be open for traffic shortly.

Earlier, militants got trapped after attacking a BSF Convoy on National Highway in Kulgam on Thursday afternoon.

The police had said that two militants of LeT were still alive, while exchange of fire was going on. 

It stated that two security forces personnel and two civilians were injured from militants fire, while forces were taking all precautions for lesser collateral damage as target building was huge.

In another Tweet police had said that so far one militant has been killed while search of the building was yet to be done.
