Srinagar  July 26 (KNS):  one millitant has been killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, however operation is in progress police said. 

An official told Kashmir News service (KNS)  that the gunbattle broke out in Aharbal area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district after the security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation following information about the presence of militants there. 

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated during which one unidentified militant has been killed.(KNS)
