Srinagar, May 07 (KNS): Two militant have been killed in an encounter at Redweni Payeen area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

A police official said that two militant bodies have been seen lying dead at the encounter site however efforts are on to retrieve them.
He said the identity of the slain militants will be ascertained after the anti-militancy operations will be over.

Earlier on Monday late night, joint team of Police and Army after getting specific input about presence of militants in the area launched a cordon and search operation in Redwani Payeen. Soon the search party approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon, triggering an encounter in the area.

The operation was suspended for the night due to darkness and was resumed in the morning.

“The searches are underway in and around the gunfight site,” the official said. (KNS)
