KU's MA Boys hostel holds student representative elections, Adil Hussain emerges Victorious

 Srinagar, Nov 16(KNS): Meboob-ul-Alam Boys Hostel University of Kashmir held student representative elections, where Adil Hussain Rather, a university student, emerged as the victorious candidate.

The elections commenced this evening in the presence of warden MA Boys Hostel , Dr. Younis Rashidand , the former proctor Junaid Manzoor Dar, In-charges of various hostel committees and additional hostel management staff.

Hostel boarders actively participated in the process.

Prior to the commencement of the elections, both candidates shared their perspectives and presented their manifestos to the boarders. Following which the electoral process was initiated.

In the elections, a total of 160 votes were caste. Rather, a student at the Media Education Research Center (MERC), secured 90 votes, surpassing Zubair Ahmad's 70 votes, and emerged as the successful candidate for the Student Representative (Proctor) post.

In the Deputy Proctor race, Ubaid Nisar Rather secured 115 votes, while Qamran Javied Mir received 45 votes, leading to Rather's victory for the position.

Dr. Younis Rashid extended congratulations to the winning candidates, highlighting the significant responsibilities that come with the proctor's role.

He highlighted the proctor's role as a bridge between student concerns and the higher authorities of the university.

"With hundreds of students in the hostel, addressing each student's issues individually can be challenging for the university authorities. That's why we elect representatives, like the proctor, to serve as a bridge between students and authorities, addressing their concerns," he said.

Dr. Younis Rashid expressed hope that Adil Husain Rather would effectively fulfill this role for the betterment of the students.

Meanwhile, the former Proctor, Junaid Manzoor Dar, offered congratulations to the successful candidate and encouraged them to prioritize progress, enhance hostel facilities, and focus on the welfare of students during their tenure.

He praised Former warden , Dr Muhammad Muzamil for his commendable work towards hostel .

"Dr. Muzamil has timely resolved years long grievances of hostel boarders," Junaid said, while highlighting various infrastructural improvements which took place during his tenure.

Moreover, Adil Hussain extended a farewell address to the departing Proctor, Junaid Manzoor Dar, as he concluded his tenure today.

While acknowledging Dar's contributions, he expressed that Dar's legacy will continue to inspire the young students, and his noteworthy contributions will be remembered.

Meanwhile, Former Incharge Mess Committee Aabid Hussain also congratulated newly elected student representatives, saying that the duo would carry forward the great legacy of development for the welfare of boarders, ensuring the peaceful and comfortable atmosphere as being witnessed for years.(KNS).
