KU holds condolence meet to mourn demise of ex-IMFA teacher Anil Kaul

Srinagar, Nov 9 (KNS): The University of Kashmir  Wednesday held a condolence meeting to mourn the sad demise of Mr. Anil Kaul, a prolific musician and former teacher at the University's Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA). 

In her condolence message, Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan expressed her shock and grief over the sad demise of Anil Kaul and conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. She also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

A condolence meeting was held at the IMFA where rich tributes to paid to Anil Kaul who left for heavenly abode on November 7. 

Apart from being an alumnus of IMFA KU, Mr. Kaul was an academician and a prolific musician who served the IMFA in the department of Tabla (Indian Classical) and represented the country on many occasions on national and international platforms. 

He was deputed by the  Government of India to different countries like Moscow, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Dushanbe, Novosibirsk, Ukraine, among others, to share his experiences and expertise on his subject. 

The masters of Indian Classical and light music with whom Mr Kaul performed are
Malika Pukhraj, Ustad Shahid Pervez, Pt. Debu Chowdhury, Ustad Ahmad
Hussain/Mohammad Hussain, Late Balram Pathak, Talat Aziz, and others.

The condolence meeting was attended by KU Registrar Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir, Deputy Director DIQA KU Mr Showket Shafi and Prof Rubi Zutshi, Principal IMFA, besides faculty members and students of the Institute.

On behalf of the teaching and non-teaching fraternity of the University, Dr Nisar expressed his condolences and said that the demise of Kaul Ji is a great loss not only to this Institute or the University but also to the country. His demise has created a void that is difficult to fill, Dr Nisar said, urging the
faculty members and the students of IMFA to carry forward Kaul Ji's mission and work for the development of the Institute in particular and the University in general.(KNS)
