Srinagar, Jul 16 (KNS) : The University of Kashmir (KU) on Thursday felicitated its team which won the top honours at the 17th National Youth Parliament Competition organised by the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan, who presided over the felicitation function at the varsity's Gandhi Bhawan, announced that students representing KU at national-level youth leadership programmes would be given academic credits under the university's existing academic framework.
"The victory has brought national recognition to the university and reflects the intellectual calibre, communication skills and democratic values of our students," Prof Khan said.
Registrar Prof Naseer Iqbal termed the achievement a matter of pride for the institution, while Dean Students' Welfare Prof Seema Singh appreciated the dedication and teamwork displayed by the students.
The team was mentored by Dr Shahid Ali Khan, who is also the Cultural Officer and Coordinator of the National Youth Parliament Competition at KU.
Senior functionaries, including deans and heads of various schools, attended the ceremony, which began with a traditional Izband ceremony and concluded with a vote of thanks.
KU secured the first position in the national competition, bringing the championship to Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
