KTA decries unscheduled power cuts across Kashmir

Srinagar June 16 (KNS): Kashmir Traders Alliance ( KTA) has expressed concern over unscheduled and pesky power cuts resorted by Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited.

In a statement, Aijaz Shahdhar President KTA said long power cuts during summer was unheard of in the past but now it has become a norm in Srinagar this season as for hours there is no sign of electricity which has negative impact on business as well as general populace.

" KPDCL officials are tight-lipped about the worsening power situation, people are reeling under darkness in this scorching heat, while authorities are silent spectator."

"These power cuts have negative impact on tourism as well as general business. Despite smart metering in Kashmir people are reeling under unannounced power outages."

Shahdhar said that it's a high time that government functionaries should come up with an official statement why people of Valley are made to face power cuts while on the other side LG Manoj Sinha administration had assured people of uninterrupted power supply.(KNS)
