KTA Calls for Financial Stimulus Package Amid Severe Economic Downturn Following Pahalgam Attack

Stinagar,May 18 (KNS) : The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has formally urged the government to announce a comprehensive financial stimulus package as the Kashmir Valley grapples with what it describes as the "worst business slump" in recent memory following the Pahalgam attack.

In a strongly worded statement issued today, KTA President Aijaz Shahdhar highlighted the dire economic situation affecting virtually all sectors across the region.

"Kashmir is facing its worst ever business slump," Shahdhar stated. "While tourism has been the most severely impacted sector, the current situation has dealt a devastating blow to almost every segment of our economy."

The KTA president painted a grim picture of the current business environment, noting that "businessmen, shopkeepers are sitting idle the whole day" and "markets are deserted" throughout the Valley.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThis unprecedented downturn has created an urgent need for government intervention, according to the trade body.

KTA is specifically calling for a tailored financial package designed to provide immediate relief to struggling businesses across multiple sectors. Such assistance would aim to stabilize the regional economy while businesses work to recover from the sharp decline in commercial activity.

"The government must recognize the severity of this situation and respond with appropriate financial measures," Shahdhar emphasized. "A comprehensive stimulus package is essential to prevent widespread business failures and protect livelihoods across Kashmir."

The KTA said that they would continue advocating for economic relief and plans to engage with government officials to detail specific proposals for effective intervention strategies.(KNS)
