Kreeri villagers protest against PDD over hike in monthly power bills

Baramulla, Feb 15 (KNS): Residents of Kreeri villages of Baramulla district on Tuesday blocked road to protest against Power Development Department over hefty hike in monthly power bills. 

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the residents blocked the road and held protest against PDD for sending them fatty power bills and alleged that the officials of concerned department don't pay any heed to their pleas. 

The protesters raised slogans against the department and stated that the department was unilaterally dispatching huge power bills to them despite erratic power supply.

One of the protesters said that the hike in power bills is unacceptable to them and they will not pay any penny till department comes out clear on the issue.

Meanwhile, AEE Mohammad Ashraf, when contacted, said that the area had made electric meters defunct and department is dispatching bills on flat rate basis. 

About erratic power supply, he said that transformer at the receiving station had developed some technical snag and it will be fixed soon. (KNS)
