Srinagar, June 1 (KNS):  Police today said a person with counterfeit currency notes was arrested in Kupwara.

A statement issued to KNS reads A party of Police Station Kralgund during checking of vehicles and pedestrians at a Naka intercepted a person in the suspicious condition who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was tactfully apprehended by the naka party."

The apprehended person disclosed his identity as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Resident of Dangiwacha Rafiabad, police said.

"During his personal search 47 counterfeit notes of Rs.2000 which amount to Rs 94000 have been recovered," it said.

A Case FIR No. 31/2021 U/s 489- C IPC has been registered against the accused person in Police Station Kralgund and investigation started.(KNS)
