Pahalgam, Jun 22 (KNS): With the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra set to commence on July 3, the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) on Monday said all necessary power arrangements have been finalized to ensure 24x7 electricity for pilgrims, even in the most remote stretches of the mountainous route.
Managing Director Mahmood Ahmad Shah, accompanied by Chief Engineer (Distribution) Nissar Ahmad Lone and Superintending Engineer of Circle South, undertook an extensive on-ground review of the power infrastructure at Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Officials briefed the MD that adequate illumination has been provided at all Padavs (halting stations) through a mix of DG sets, Gen sets, and solar lighting systems in areas beyond the grid’s reach.

“There will be no shortage or power cuts during the Yatra. Special teams have been deployed at all critical locations to ensure seamless electricity,” Shah assured, adding that the management remains fully supportive of ground staff working in challenging terrain and weather.
The MD lauded the dedication of engineers and field workers, directing them to leave no stone unturned in delivering efficient services to the pilgrims. The Yatra is scheduled to begin on July 3, 2026. (KNS)
