Says seizure of schools, assets of JeI won't change ground reality

Budgam, Dec 22 (KNS): PDP president and former chief minister J&K, Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that Kashmiri Pandits shouldn't have been asked to stay in Kashmir Valley "forcibly" as the community has suffered imensely owing to the unending uncertain situation in J&K.

"The decision about stoping their (KPs) salaries is a harsh one. They have suffered badly for many years even when we were in power. They should not have asked to stay in valley forcibly, instead government should ensure favorable atmosphere for them so that they resume their respective offices hassle-free", Mehboba Mufti as per KNS told to reporters during her visit to Chadoora village in central Kashmir's Budgam.

She accused BJP of taking advantage of sufferings of Kashmiri Pandit's. "BJP has no sympathy towards KPs. They used the miserable community only for political gains which is very unfortunate", she said.

Over threats issued by TRF to Kashmiri Pandit's, the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said "these actions are highly condemnable", and added, "If government is beating drums of normalcy, then why Moulvi's (religious clerics) being arrested, journalists summoned, employees kicked out from services, politicians & businessmen being targeted by ED etc".

She said the way New Delhi treats people of J&K seems they are at war with us and treats our people as "enemies".

To a query, she replied that the idea of separatism need to be addressed instead of resorting to callous and harsh measures. "The Govt. is sealing Jama’at-e-Islami run schools and it's properties who were imparting qualitative education to poor children. But BJP being having a communal mindset want to cool its inner with these measures", Mehbooba said.

"This will yield nothing. The ground reality cannot be changed by harsh tactics employed by BJP", Mehbooba added. (KNS)
