Says even civil societies condemn these killings

Srinagar, Apr 05 (KNS): Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Tuesday said killing a person who is there to protect people is a barbaric act and even civil societies have condemned these acts.

Talking to reporters on sidelines of a wreath laying ceremony of a CRPF personnel who was killed in a militant attack at Maisuma yesterday, Singh said that in the month of Ramadan when prayers for peace and tranquility are offered worldwide, no one can accept killing of someone in such an environment and that is why it has been condemned everywhere in civil circles.

Replying to a query over increase in number of OGWs, he said that there has been presence of OGWs always and the operations by security forces have also been stepped up, while a large number of such people are being kept out of circulation.

Singh also said that the neighboring country has left no stone unturned by their nefarious designs to disrupt peace and tourism in J&K. "They don't want people here to earn their livelihood with peace. But we are committed to our responsibilities and will continue to do our duties," he added.

He said that around 42 militants have been killed in the past three months and the presence of foreign militants is also very low. (KNS)
