Sole motive of Sports Council is to promote, propagate culture of sports in State

Srinagar, Jan 13 (KNS): The coaching and competition camps under Khelo India which started with great fervor across the state Jammu and Kashmir with more than 2000 athletes, player’s registered themselves with the Sports Council for different games concluded at seven districts of the Kashmir division.
The coaching competition camps were kick started on December 29 2016. The sports council had earlier sought the registrations of the trainees and players up to the age of 19 years at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and MA Stadium Jammu and respective district units of the Sports Council.
The trainees and the players for the camps and competitions were selected on battery of tests and were being screened by the empowered committees of the respective districts.
A spokesperson of the sports council said that the council is trying best to promote sports at grass- root level and ensure a maximum participation of sports persons and enthusiastic youth. “The selection trials for different sports disciplines will choose the best talent of the state.”
The sole motive of the Sports Council is to promote and propagate the culture of sports among the youth and to encourage the budding sportspersons in the State and such initiatives will continue in future also, he said.
In Anantnag, sports camps concluded in Cricket, Football and Netball and almost 204 players had registered in the coaching cum competition camp.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In Bandipora, 130 persons have registered themselves for coaching cum completion in the disciplines of volleyball, Wushu and Judo.
In Baramulla, 130 persons registered themselves for under Khelo India in the disciplines of Handball and Athletics.
In Uri, 110 persons registered themselves under Khelo India in the disciplines of Cricket and Kabaddi and due to bad weather conditions, the camp is yet to be concluded.
In Budgam, 145 persons registered themselves for under Khelo India in the disciplines of Hockey, Athletics and Wushu.
In Ganderbal, 225 persons registered themselves for under Khelo India in the disciplines of Yoga, Volleyball and Judo.
In Shopian, 114 persons have registered under Khelo India in Thang Ta and Kabbadi.
In Pulwama, 250 registrations were made in Cricket while 70 persons were registered in Basketball and 76 in football.
It is pertinent to mention here that the sports activities across the state Jammu and Kashmir have gained momentum. State Sports Council with sports associations affiliated with it has all initiated the process of organizing sports activities across the state. However, organizing of the coaching camps and competitions under Khelo India Scheme (Sports For All) are among the major sports activities held by the Sports council. (KNS)
