Khawaja News Agency’s office gutted in Uri blaze

‘Suffers heavy loss’

Srinagar, Feb 25 (KNS): The blaze in Uri has gutted the office of the only news agency, Khawaja News Agency, in the border district on Tuesday midnight.
The agency was started in 1988 by Maqsood Ahmad, who is the producer of Shaherbeen news programme on Radio Kashmir.
Ahmad told KNS that the office was completely gutted in the blaze, with its equipment like computers, fax machines, printers and Xerox machines razed to ashes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
People in the area have expressed grief over the incident, saying that it was a huge loss as the agency was the only source to information to them and to the outside world about Uri and the happenings in the border town.
The blaze has gutted 55 shops, godowns and hotels in the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday in Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. (KNS)
