Kashmiri writer Showkat Shifa represents J&K at Sahitya Akademi festival

 Anantnag/New Delhi, Apr 4 (KNS): Kashmiri writer Dr Showkat Shifa represented Jammu and Kashmir at the Sahitya Akademi’s Annual Festival of Letters held in New Delhi from March 30 to April 4.

Shifa participated in the national literary event organised by the Sahitya Akademi under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, officials said.

The festival saw participation of over 700 writers and scholars representing more than 90 Indian languages, with nearly 100 sessions held during the multi-day event. The theme of this year’s festival was “Indian Literature: The Cradle of Cultures”.

Hailing from Anantnag district in south Kashmir, Shifa took part as a panellist in a session titled “Healing Sounds – The Soothing Power of Poetry” held on April 3.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The session focused on the role of poetry in addressing human experiences such as love, hope, sorrow and peace.

His participation has been appreciated in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with locals terming it a significant achievement.

The Annual Festival of Letters is considered a major platform for literary exchange, showcasing the diversity of Indian literature.

Shifa is scheduled to return to Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.(KNS).
