Asks Govt to ‘stop oppressive measures’

Srinagar, Sep 26 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party (JKDLP), Hashim Qureshi Monday expressed regret and anger on government's policy of imposing curfew and arresting civilians in large numbers.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hashim condemned imposition of PSA under which civilians are arrested and put into various jails.
He said that the relatives of political workers are called to police stations and interrogated and this is condemnable.
Condemning in harshest words atrocities perpetrated on political activists, he demanded that the government should immediately stop oppressive measures.
He demanded that curfew should be lifted, arresting the people should be stopped and raids on the houses of people should stop forthwith.
Hashim asked Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti “whether she also desires to take a sigh of relief after getting 121 innocent people killed as was done by her predecessor Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.”
He asked “if Mehbooba does not want to lag behind in reaching the number of the killed during Omar Abdullah regime.”
Hashim said that history would not spare anybody. “Perpetrators of oppression have to be answerable,” he said.
Strongly criticising the acts of vandalism like torching school buildings, panchayat houses and public properties, he asked the anti-social elements whether these acts of vandalism were part of freedom movement.
He said that some people with diseased mentality with dirty and dark minds had once again started the condemnable activity of torching the school buildings of children and government buildings.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“If those who are behind these acts of vandalism think that they are harming India, they are living in fool's paradise. These acts are seriously causing damage to us and our future generations. Some projects are underway in our State with collaboration from international organizations. They advance loans which the people of the State are supposed to repay,” he said.
He said that people should stand up against these anti-social elements that are out to cause damage to the welfare of our future generations. They are snakes in the grass and the snake's head has to be crushed.
Hashim Qureshi said that these elements could have a serious and hidden plan of depriving our future generations of education. “They are out to repeat the reactionary policy of Taliban here in Kashmir and drag us to the darkness of illiteracy and ignorance. But they would do well to remember that the Taliban achieved no success whatsoever either in Afghanistan or in Pakistan,” he said.
He said that these ignorant people should know that the first word spoken by our holy Prophet (?) was "IQRA" meaning read. “Therefore it has to be remembered that whosoever an enemy of knowledge is and of disseminating knowledge and consciousness are the enemies of Allah and our venerable Prophet (?). These enemies have to be identified and they have to be stopped from putting off the light of knowledge because they are the enemies of God and His venerable Prophet. (KNS)
