Kashmir shuts against killing of militants in Pattan

Situation by and large remained peaceful, says IGP Kashmir

On separatists call, complete shutdown was observedWednesday in Kashmir against the killing of three Hizbul Mujahideen militants, whose bodies were recovered from an orchard in Pattan area of north-Kashmir’s Barramulla district on Monday.
While as shops and other business establishments remained shut, public transport was also off the roads across Valley.
Sources told KNS that few minor stone pelting clashes between the youth and paramilitary forces were also witnessed in some areas of Srinagar old City, while as there were no reports of injury in any part of the valley.
However, IG Police Kashmir, SJM Gilani told KNS that the situation by and large remained peaceful and under control across Valley.
“There were few incidents of stone pelting at Saraf Kadal area in Old City Nowhatta, rest the situation remained peaceful all across Kashmir,” he said.
Terming the death of youth as ‘cold blooded murders’, both factions of Hurriyat Conferences and Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yaseen Malik had called for strike to protest the killings of the three youths.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
A day after their bodies were recovered, Hizb Chief Syed Salahudin owned the trio as active members of his militant organization has endorsed the strike call given by the veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani. Hizb supremo alleged that the trio were killed by the state’s ‘infamous’ Special Operation Group in its custody.
However, police who identified two of three bodies as militants claimed might have killed in rivalry between the Lashkar Islam and Hizbul Mujahideen militant groups, which Salahudin denied as Lashkar Islam militant outfit did not exist.
Pertinently, three bodies identified as Ashiq Ahmed of Lolipora, Pattan, Amir Reshi, and Naveed of Hardshiva in Sopore were recovered in an orchard in Pattan on Monday. The bodies bore visible brutal torture marks, prompting protests and wide spread condemnation. (KNS)
