Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): Authorities Saturday continued to impose restrictions in Srinagar parts on the second consecutive day while the rest of the Valley observed a complete shutdown to protest against the growing incidents of mysterious braid chopping in Kashmir.
The shutdown was called by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik against the ‘attack on the dignity of a woman’.
In view of the shutdown call, the restrictions under section 144 CrPC continued for the second consecutive day today in Srinagar parts falling under the jurisdiction of seven Police Stations including Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, M R Gunj, Maisuma and Kralkhud as ‘precautionary measure’.

The forces had erected concertina wires on the roads, witnesses said, adding that they were seen patrolling in the armoured vehicles throughout the day.
Besides, all the shops, business establishments, petrol pumps and other business establishments remained closed in the Valley while the traffic was also thin on the roads.
Meanwhile, minor clashes erupted at a few places today during which forces used tear smoke shells to disperse the youth who were pelting stones on them.
A top Police official said that the situation remained normal and under control throughout the day. (KNS)
