Officials say no further extension in vacation as weather improves

Srinagar, Mar 03 (KNS): Schools across the Kashmir division are set to reopen from tomorrow after a winter break of over 3 months that was announced in November last year.

According to details available with KNS, winter vacation for classes upto 8th standard was announced on November 28 last year, while vacation for classes 9th to 12th had started from December 11 last year.

Now after a gap of over 3 months, both government and private schools across the Kashmir division will reopen from tomorrow.

Earlier, the schools were scheduled to reopen on March 01, but due to heavy snowfall and rain across the Valley winter vacation was extended by 3 mores days till March 03.

Kashmir Valley received fresh heavy snowfall and rain over the past couple of days with summer capital Srinagar also experienced snowfall last night.

The inclement weather also led to closure of several roads including Srinagar-Jammu national highway, while air traffic was also disrupted yesterday.

An official told KNS that there will be no further extension in winter vacations in view of the improvement in the weather conditions today onwards.

The weatherman has also predicted that there will be gradual improvement in weather conditions from today afternoon across the Valley with no fresh inclement expected for a few days. (KNS)
