Srinagar, September 29:(KNS) Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Tuesday said J&K is in deep throes of crises and the party has to live up to the expectations of people by walking shoulder to shoulder with them during the prevailing situation.

Party’s Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani addressed a meeting of block Amirakadal functionaries at Nawa-e-Subha Srinagar. The meet saw a huge participation of the party's parent body, YNC and Women’s Wing functionaries.

In his address he said the prevailing COVID-19 crises and the previous lock-down has affected every vital sector of J&K’s economy. He said the much touted development is not perceptible on ground and the local youth in particular are at the receiving end looking in the deep chasm of uncertainty. “Thousands of educated young women and men in Kashmir are bearing the brunt of unemployment and are struggling to find jobs. Prevailing economic crises and administrative inertia has compounded the scenario. The measures taken by GOI, and the subsequent fall out of the global pandemic has only increased the trepidation of the people. There is no accountability on ground and people have been left to fend for themselves,” he said.

Contrarily to the much flaunted assurances of developed and prosperity which was promised by the GOI following the unilateral and unconstitutional abrogation of J&k’s special Status, he said that development was not in the to-do-list of government vis-à-vis Kashmir, saying the valley of Kashmir has become a byword of widespread and inescapable poverty, unemployment, development deficit and administrative inertia, and the airdropped bureaucracy has failed to redress the issues of people.

Among others Party’s YNC president Salman Ali Sagar, women’s wing president Er. Sabiya Qadri, YNC VP Ahsan Pardesi,YNC President district Srinagar Khalid Rathore , Block President Rafiq Ellahi and other functionaries also spoke on the occasion.

On the occasion a noted social activist Shoaib Ahmed Dar joined the party. The new entrant into the party was welcomed into the party fold by the Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani. The new entrant into the party said that there is no alternative to NC and that only NC can salvage J&k towards safe shores.

Nasir said that there can be no trade off between the political aspirations of the people and development activities and that both have to go hand in hand. He said the unilateral and unconstitutional measures taken by the GOI on August 5th in 2019 have not fared well in any region of Jammu and Kashmir and that people living in all the regions are equally worrisome for their future and the future of the coming generation.

He further added that at a time when the political parties of Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah were striving for the restoration of J&K’s special Status, some newly sprouted parties are trying their level best to break this unity by churning mistruths. He extolled the role of the YNC and Women’s wing functionaries for their endurance and steadfastness in holding the party flag high during the most tumultuous times, saying the party has been in the eye of storm for the reason that it has never traded off its principles and the cherished ideals of Sher-e-Kashmir.(KNS)
