Karnah, April 02 (KNS): Remote tehsil Karnah of North Kashmir's Kupwara district is reeling under complete darkness from last three days after 33KVA line from Arampora Sopore through Sadhna top to Karnah suffered damage due to recent avalanches and land slides across Zarla ranges in the foot hills of Sadhana top.

According to Kashmir News (KNS), every year during winters when the entire area is covered by snow and temperatures are sub zero, the people of this remote area literally live in dark ages due to non-availability of electricity and other basic things.

The locals allege that the PDD men are taking it just for granted to mend the damages due to which the consumers are pushed to suffer manifolds difficulties. "How come you do without electricity for such a longer time at a time when you are forced to stay indoors due to any pandemic and all activities are run by electricity be it phone, TV and other gadgets" Mohammad Ishaq, a local resident said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“I wonder what stops these officials to get into action swiftly to mend the damages to restore power supply for people who are already under unwanted stress due Covid 19. Besides It is long pending demand of local to remove single electricity pole system at Sadhna top and erect a tall towers so that power supply during winters is not effected but nobody is paying heed to our pleas”, another local resident, Zia ur Rehman said.

Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer Power Development Department (PDD) Mohd Ashraf while talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said due to fresh landslides and windstorms across Zarla stretch in the foothills of Sadhna top, 33 KVA transmission line has got damaged and PDD is on job to restore it as early as possible.
