SDM Karnah says Beacon on job to clear snow, traffic to be restored after two days

Srinagar, Jan 11 (KNS): The only road link connecting Karnah with district headquarters Kupwara continues to remain closed for 8th consecutive day, thereby putting residents into a lot of inconveniences.

Locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS), the closure of only road link has put them into a lot of inconveniences as several patients, students and employees are stranded from both sides of Sadhna Top.

They said that the areas remains cut-off from district headquarters and rest of the valley during winter months due to heavy snowfall in the area and at Sadhna Top.

Meanwhile, the residents also said that the area is reeling under darkness for the last 4 days after heavy snowfall damaged transmission lines in the area. 

When contacted, SDM Karnah, Dr Gulzar Ahmad Rather told KNS that Beacon was on job to clear snow from Karnah-Kupwara road and it will take at least two days to clear, following which traffic movement would be restored.

He also said that they have also arranged emergency chopper service for patients who need immediate medical attention.

“Two patients were evacuated today by helicopter, who were in a critical condition and were shifted to Srinagar for medical attention,” he added. (KNS)
