Srinagar, Jun 02 (KNS): The forest division of Kamaraj on Thursday retrieved 800 kanals of land in north Kashmir, which was illegally occupied by the locals in the area.
An official of forest division Kamaraj told KNS that a joint operation of Forest Police Force (FPF) and territorial forest of division was today launched in Batapora, Haihama compartment number 72/NH in which the officials retrieved 500 kanals of land from the encroachers.
He said that the team was constituted by DFO in which several officers were deputed to retrieve the land illegally occupied by the locals.
“The officers and forces after launching the operation successfully retrieved the land from encroachers,” he said.
Earlier, Minister for Forests and Environment Lal Singh has warned the forest land encroachers of strict action and has said that protection of environment and forests is the most important issue in the world at the moment.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“We will not allow any encroachments on forest land at any cost. I have devised a plan to make the fencing around the forest areas but we need estimated Rs 8000 crore for that which is a huge sum. But with the present resources we will start fencing around the areas which are vulnerable for encroachments,” he said.
Meanwhile, forest division Lalpora under the supervision of DFO, Muhammad Ayoub also retrieved 300 kanals of land in Lalpora area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district. (KNS)
