Former Speaker and National Conference Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone on Sunday said that judges of Jammu & Kashmir High Court should not force the police to implement the direction passed by a division bench to implement the beef ban law in the state as the legislature according Lone has the intentions of scrapping the beef ban law. Lone also disclosed that his party National Conference will seek support from one and all both at the state and national level in the spirit of the protection of religious rights of the people in Jammu & Kashmir the only muslim majority state of the country.
Talking to Kashmir News Service Lone said ‘private members bill moved by the National Conference on beef ban law scrapping has been signed by him and other two NC MLAs’ Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mian Altaf Ahmad and Speaker Assembly has constitutional obligation to table the bill straightway in the assembly as he does not command any authority or power to reject the bill on his own. He in the course of interactions said “I suggest to honourable Judges of the High Court that they should not force the police to implement the double bench judgment on beef ban law as legislature has expressed intentions of scrapping the beef ban law.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThis the only way to respect the religious sentiments of the muslim majority community in Jammu & Kashmir state”. Declaring that his party will solicit support from one and all even at the national level, Lone said, “The government has to either accept NC’s private members bill or to announce its willingness to table a similar bill in the assembly. Government can also oppose the bill but that will prove detrimental for the protection of the religious rights of the muslim majority community in Jammu & Kashmir state”.
It may be noted here that besides NC’s private members bill on scrapping of beef ban law, the assembly secretariat has also received similar bills seeking abrogation of beef ban law from two other MLAs Engineer Rashid and CPI(M) Secretary M.Y.Tarigami. (KNS)
