Srinagar, Nov 5 (KNS): Demanding introduction of public administration as a subject at higher secondary and college levels, J&K Public Administration Association (JKPAA) Saturday said government was ignoring important field of knowledge by not making it part of syllabi.
“Public Administration is not taught at higher secondary, college or university levels in J&K. Fifty four subjects are being taught in academics but public administration stands nowhere. We have been striving for its introduction as one of the separate subject but nothing has been done so far despite assurances from the officials,” a group of JKPAA led by Khursheed Ahmad Bhat told KNS.
“Many committees and commissions like Second Administrative Reforms Commission and YK Alagh Committee have strongly recommended for popularization and promotion of public administration as a subject. But in our state, nothing has been done in this regard,” the aggrieved degree holders in public administration rued.
“Since 2009, various representations were made with the concerned authorities. But unfortunately Since 2009 Public Administration is yet to be implemented at +2 level in J&K,” they said.
“In 2014, Secretary to Government, School Education Department Civil Secretariat Srinagar has shoot a letter vide No:-Edu/Plan-SE/909/2013/2014 to Directorate of School Education Jammu and Kashmir to give the response from all Chief Education Officers/DIET Principals/SIE regarding implementation and creation of public administration post at +2 level in Kashmir,” they added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“All CEO’s/DIET Principals/SIE responded positively as majority of students in Higher Secondary Institutions of Jammu and Kashmir are continuously approaching for opting public Administration at +2 level,” they said.
They said that DHSK has also forwarded a complete proposal along with justification for creation of posts to the Commissioner/Secretary to Government School education department J&K vide letter No.Estt-1/creation/DSEK/18 dated 20/01/2015.
"Moreover Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education has already completed all formalities regarding syllabus of Public Administration for 11th and 12th Classes vide letter No.F:(Acad-C)Admn-XII/15 Dated:-08/06/2015,” they said.
The said that the delay in implementation of public administration as a subject at +2 level has put career of various scholars at stake as since 2009 almost 47 scholars of Public Administration with Ph.d degree have crossed upper limit of age. (KNS)
