‘Continuous ban on prepaid mobile, Mobile internet highly condemnable’

Srinagar, Oct 04 (KNS): Seeking suggestion from media fraternity for a possible peaceful protest against the day-to-day suppressive methods to curb the media in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Young Journalist Association (JKYJA) Tuesday held an important meeting of all its members chaired by President Ajaz Ahmad War. During the meeting the participants in strong possible words condemned the media gag and three months continuous restrictions on mobile internet and prepaid mobile services.
Besides other members the meeting was attended by Bilal Furqani, Majid Kapra, Bilal Bashir Bhat, Rameez Makhdoomi, Mir Imran, Tauseef Mir, Idrees ul Haq. The participants expressed dismay over the government’s decision to continue the ban on Mobile Internet and Prepaid Mobile services.
They said on one hand tall claims of ‘Digital India’ are being made on different platforms, but on the other hand freedom of expression was completely restricted in Kashmir, adding, it was unfortunate on part of government to ban mobile internet and prepaid mobile services which is mandatory for a scribe in present modern times to perform his/her professional duties.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The participants also condemned the forces action not allowing media persons to perform their professional duties. They said journalists were harassed in nook and corner of the Valley during the present turmoil in Kashmir.
Commenting over the ban on the publication of a local daily the meeting said it was highly deplorable that the ruling dispensation was indulging in such activities which were totally anti-democratic and amounts to muzzle the voice of people in Kashmir.
